The Seattle International Film Festival may have ended, but thanks to
the terrific theaters we have here in the area, we are able to enjoy
Norwegian films on the big screen now and then anyway. Få meg på, for faen, or Turn Me On, Dammit, is a coming of age story from a small-town girl's perspective. The film was awarded "best screenplay" at the 2011 Tribeca film festival, and has received several good reviews, including one in this week's Seattle Times. As noted in that review, the film is a little franker about sex than most American films, and can be compared to a film version of a Judy Blume novel. The film is currently listed as playing at the Varsity Theatre in the University District through Thursday. Filming locations include Sauda, hometown of NorskSeattle.com's mom, and nearby Suldal, so we are biased, and do hope that you check out the film! |
