Norway Day in Olympia

posted Apr 15, 2016, 8:00 PM by Tasha King

Norway Day in Olympia is a tradition that was started in 2007 by members of Olympia’s Hovedstad Lodge #94, Sons of Norway and members of Olympia’s Prillar Guri Lodge #30, Daughters of Norway.  The objective of these two organizations was to create an awareness of the history and culture of Norway and other Scandinavian countries.

Norway Day is a festival filled with music, dancers, an abundance of Norwegian history, genealogy, and authentic Norwegian foods bursting with the aroma and tastes of days gone by. Norway Day offers you the opportunity to meet Norwegian Fjord horses and Norwegian Elk Hounds, learn how to trace your ancestors and watch demonstrations of Norwegian waffles and krumkake baking.

You don’t have to be Norwegian or go to Norway to experience the joy of Norwegian culture. The Norway Day Festival will come to life at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16 in the Expo Center at the Thurston County Fairgrounds.  Norway Day is an experience of a lifetime, an experience you will surely want to share with your family and friends, both young and old, year-after-year.
