The Norwegian Male Chorus of Seattle is preparing to begin rehearsals for the spring season, and will be hosting Open Rehearsal / New Members Nights on Monday, January 12 and 19, 2015 from 7pm-9pm, in preparation for our Spring concert and Sangerfest 2015 to be held in Salem, OR • June 18-21, 2015.

The chorus rehearses every Monday night from 7pm-9pm, in Ballard, at the Nordic Heritage Museum at 3014 NW 67th Street.

From the director:

Founded in 1889, the Norwegian Male Chorus Seattle is thought to be the oldest continuously-operating choral organization in Seattle. We are celebrating our 126th anniversary this year

The chorus seeks to provide social and fellowship experiences that reach beyond the realm of musical purpose to deepen and enrich our lives. The chorus’ roster includes men of all ages and reflects the wonderful ethnic diversity of our community.

In addition to the annual Sangerfest, our performance schedule includes Sons of Norway Leif Erikson Lodge functions, Yulefest and Tivoli Viking Days events at the Nordic Heritage Museum and the Sytende Mai Parade.

We extend a sincere and cordial welcome to any man over 18 who would like to sing and enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship once a week. No previous experience is required and ability to read music is not necessary. We have new members nights twice a year (September and January) when we welcome anyone interested in finding out more about us – no obligation to join and there is no audition!

Why not come along to our next new members night on Monday 12th January 2015  or Monday 19th January 2015 at our usual venue, the Nordic Heritage Museum, where you’ll meet the friendly members of the chorus and Sean Berg, our director, and you will have a gentle and fun introduction to singing with us along with a social to meet the guys!
To find out more, or to let us know to expect you, please contact Sean Berg @ bergnyc2@icloud.com

Don’t worry if you are not confident about your singing voice – some of our members have noticed the following about their voices since joining the choir:

• “My upper and lower singing range has improved. I don’t feel as though I’m struggling to reach the notes I used to.”
• “I had never sung in a choir before so not sure of my voice, but I was sent to tenors and I have gained in voice and confidence”
• “My range has improved and I’m a more confident singer. I’ve learnt a lot of breathing techniques & it has helped my overall health & well being too.”

Come and give it a go – you won’t regret it!

The club holds occasional gatherings throughout the year, where members, family, friends, associates, and prospective members are welcome.
