Admin@NorskSeattle.com grew up in Poulsbo, WA, child of a Norwegian mother and Norwegian-American father. Mom taught Hardanger embroidery at the local Sons of Norway lodges, and brought us kids back to Norway (Sauda, Røldal, Oslo) to visit our grandparents and relatives in Norway during the summers every few years growing up. Mormor was the "bunad dronning" of Sauda, Norway, having instructed dozens of locals in the art of putting together the Rogaland bunad. Admin@NorskSeattle.com graduated with a degree in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Washington and is married to a Norwegian-American who is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. Admin@NorskSeattle.com is trying to teach seven year old Little One how to speak Norwegian. We may not be having wild success, but Little One does respond to basic requests in Norwegian, says the table prayer on her own, and surprises us with a few sentences in Norwegian now and then. After a lifetime in Washington State, Admin@NorskSeattle.com and family recently moved to the other Washington (D.C.), where they have been exploring historical and cultural sites, and enjoying the monthly Norwegian service in Bethesda, Maryland. The move makes it a little harder to stay abreast of Norwegian events in the Seattle area, so your e-mails help to make it easier for us to add your events to our site.
